5.4 Hotfixes: December 2
Here you'll find a list of hotfixes that address various issues related to the recently released World of Warcraft patch 5.4: Siege of Orgrimmar. Hotfixes are updates we make on our end without requiring you to download a new patch. Some of the hotfixes below take effect the moment they were implemented, while others may require your realm to be restarted to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch update. We will continue to update this list as additional hotfixes are applied.

- The Celestials (Chi-Ji, Niuzao, Xuen, and Yu'lon) have their health reduced to 25% of original health. If more than 10 players from the same faction are engaged with the Celestial, their health will scale up. The health increase will cap at 100% of their original health with 40 players.

- Empowered Touch of Y'Shaarj now increases the health of mind controlled players by 50% (down from a 100% increase) on Raid Finder difficulty.

- For Arena matches that lasts for 20 minutes, the team with the most players left standing will now be awarded a victory. If both teams have an equal number of players alive, the match will still end in a draw.

- Dampening is a stacking debuff applied to all players in the Arena every 10 seconds.
- Each stack of Dampening reduces all healing and damage absorption by 1%.
- If neither team has won after 20 minutes, the Arena match will end in a draw.

- PvP on-use trinket effects should no longer incorrectly scale down while in a Battleground, Rated Battleground, or Arena.

- Removed the silver icons for Master Kukuru and Whizzig on the mini-map.
- The following bind-on-pickup items are no longer able to be traded between players: Burden of Eternity, Reins of the Thundering Onyx Cloud Serpent, Cauterizing Core, Falling Flame, Golden Moss, Giant Purse of Timeless Coins, Ash-Covered Horn, and Elixir of Ancient Knowledge.

- The number of guild members needed to be considered a guild Group in Flexible difficulty has been reduced. Previously, the number of guild members required in Flexible difficulty didn’t account for the scaling group size. It now requires 80% of the current group size, rounded down.

- Altered the visual effects of Bursting Pride, Swelling Pride, Aura of Pride, and Unstable Corruption to improve their clarity and visibility.
- Portals to Orgrimmar should now spawn properly after defeating the Sha of Pride and soft resetting the instance.
- Sha of Pride no longer drops Droplet of Y'shaarj on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Swelling Pride's secondary effects can no longer be incorrectly redirected by Zen Meditation.
- Alter Time no longer teleports players that have been banished on Heroic difficulty.
- Fixed an issue where players were able to obtain a second Titan Runestone from the Sha of Pride after having already received one on a different difficulty setting.
- Galakras
- Master Cannoneer Dagryn, High Enforcer Thranok, and Lieutenant Krugruk now have less health and deals less damage on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Dragonmaw Flameslinger's Flame Arrows now deals less damage on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Dragonmaw Tidal Shaman's Chain Heal now heals for 5% of health (down from 10%) on Raid Finder difficulty.
- The portal leading back to the Vault of Y'Shaarj can no longer be used while in combat on Normal and Heroic difficulty.
- Reduced the health of ranking officials and foot soldiers in Phase 1 of the encounter on 10-player Normal difficulty.
- Galakras should no longer be able to be damaged or debuffed before landing in Phase 2.
- Resetting the Galakras encounter should no longer cause doors to the towers to remain closed.
- Flames of Galakrond is now more responsive in detecting when it passes through a player and provides a a clearer visual as the flames decreases in severity.
- Lor'themar Theron (Horde)/King Varian Wyrnn (Alliance) no longer uses taunt on Galakras.
- Iron Juggernaut
- Iron Juggernaut now has less health and deals less damage on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Iron Juggernaut's health has been reduced by 5% on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Resolved an issue where the Iron Juggernaut had more health than intended on Heroic difficulty.
- Kor'kron Dark Shaman
- Earthbreaker Haromm's Froststorm Strike now deals less damage on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Wavebinder Kardris' Froststorm Bolt and Toxic Tornado now deals less damage on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Earthbreaker Haromm and Wavebinder Kardris' health has been reduced by 5% on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Mokvar the Treasurer's Bribe ability should now be properly removed when the target has less than 50% health.
- Ashen Wall, Toxic Storm, Toxic Mist, Foul Stream, and Foul Geyser now deal less damage on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Reduced the amount of hostile NPCs in the areas leading up to the Dark Shaman encounter on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Wavebinder Kardris should no longer target non-players with Toxic Storm.
- Darkfang and Bloodclaw should now move around significantly less while being tanked alongside their masters.
- Resolved an issue that could cause Blind Blademasters in the Drag to enter combat with players during the Dark Shaman encounter.
- Changes on Raid Finder difficulty:
- Wavebinger Kardris' Falling Ash now deals 200,000 Fire damage (down from 999,999).
- Foul Slimes' Foulness aura now deals 30,000 Nature damage (down from 50,000).
- Fixed an issue where placement of Earthbreaker Haromm's Ashen Wall was not always perpendicular to the direction he's facing.
- Kor’kron Shadowmage’s Mind Spike ability now deals less damage on Raid Finder and Flexible Raid difficulty.
Kor'kron Warshaman's Healing Tide Totem now has less hit points on Raid Finder difficulty. - Kor'kron Supplies no longer spawn on Raid Finder difficulty.
- General Nazgrim
- General Nazgrim's Sundering Blow now has a cap at 4 stacks, allowing him to gain up to a maximum of 25 Rage (50 while in Berserker Stance) on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Kor'kron Arcweavers, Kor'kron Assassins, Kor'kron Ironblades, and Kor'kron Warshamans now have less health and deals less damage on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Changes on Raid Finder difficulty:
- Reduced the amount of hostile NPCs in the areas leading up to General Nazgrim on Raid Finder difficulty.
- General Nazgrim's health has been reduced by 10%.
- General Nazgrim's Ravager now hits for 200,000 damage.
- General Nazgrim now gains 1 Rage when struck in Defensive Stance (down from 2 Rage).
- General Nazgrim now gains 2 Rage for each target struck by Heroic Shockwave's Aftershocks (down from 3 Rage).

- Kor'kron Warshaman's Earth Shield now heals for 2% of maximum health (down from 5%).

- Malkorok
- Malkorok's health has been reduced by 10% on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Malkorok will now correctly apply Fatal Strikes on a tank even if they successfully dodge his melee attacks.
- Resolved an issue where Malkorok may sometimes fail to respawn after a soft reset of the raid instance on Heroic difficulty.
- Kor'kron War Wolf's Dread Howl now works like a normal fear and can be removed or dispelled by non-self cast abilities. Self-cast abilities like Berserker Rage or Will of the Forsaken do not work at this time and will be addressed in a future patch.
- Mistweaver Monks stunned with the Touch of Y'Shaarj affliction will no longer be impossible to hit due to Dematerialize.
- Ancient Barrier should now allow Surging Mist glyphed with Glyph of Surging Mist to generate Chi normally.
- Spoils of Pandaria
- Increased the time available before the defense system fully powers up for each quadrant to 360 seconds (up from 300 seconds) on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Mantid Commanders' Set to Blow ability now deals less damage on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Kor'kron Wild Gun should no longer incorrectly drop Normal difficulty loot for Raid Finder and Flexible difficulties.
- Resolved an issue that prevented players that have died during the encounter from receiving credit for the Criss Cross achievement.
- Reduced the health of most of the creatures during the Spoils of Pandaria encounter on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Having multiple players start the encounter should no longer incorrectly cause the timer to count down rapidly.
- Blade of the Hundred Steps should now only be applied to one tank per quadrant in Normal and Heroic difficulties.
- Corrected an issue where Spark of Life had more health than intended on Flexible difficulty.
- Modified Anima Golem's Matter Scramble should now always spawn on the floor.
- Resolved an issue that would sometimes cause a Burial Urn's Spark of Life to path to the wrong area.
- Resolved a situation that could cause the encounter to not reset correctly if the player starting the encounter dies immediately.
- Claw of Burning Anger now deals more damage.
- Reduced the delay before Crates of Pandaren Relics may be opened on Flexible, Normal and Heroic difficulties.
- Thok the Bloodthirsty
- Thok the Bloodthirsty's health has been reduced by 15% on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Kor'kron Jailer should no longer incorrectly drop Normal difficulty loot for Raid Finder and Flexible difficulties.
- Thok the Bloodthirsty's rate of energy regeneration should now increase properly after each use of Deafening Screech on Flexible, Normal, and Heroic difficulty.
- Captive Cave Bats on Raid Finder difficulty will no longer incorrectly drop Normal difficulty loot.
- Creatures leading up to the encounter with Thok the Bloodthirsty are now skinnable.
- Fixed an issue where players can take damage from creatures that are still locked in their cage.
- Siegecrafter Blackfuse
- Siegecrafter Blackfuse's Magnetic Lasso will now also pull character corpses that are on the conveyor belt to the main platform.
- Resolved an issue during the Siegecrafter Blackfuse encounter where players dropping into the conveyor belt may sometimes take fatal fall damage.
- Resolved an issue where destroying the last disassembled weapon right as it exits the conveyor belt may cause Siegecrafter Blackfuse to incorrectly gain the Energized Defensive Matrix effect.
- Siegecrafter Blackfuse now deals less damage on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Crawler Mine's Detonate! ability now deals less damage on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Disassembled weapons now have less health on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Siegecrafter Blackfuse's Electrostatic Charge is now also applied to player controlled pets.
- Resolved an issue where Blackfuse Sellsword's Envenomed Shadowstep was causing more damage than intended.
- Resolved an issue where the deactivated weapons on the conveyor belt had more health than intended on Normal and Heroic difficulties.
- Demonic Circles are now cleared when the encounter starts.
- Players are now immune to Superheated while being pulled off the conveyer belt.
- Shockwave Missile no longer hits players that are exiting a transport pipe.
- Automatic Repair Beam should now always be properly applied to Automated Shredders when they get near Siegecrafter Blackfuse.
- Players standing on the conveyor belt should now be able to see Shockwave Missile and its damage effect regardless of the Shockwave Missile's position in the room.
- Siegecrafter Blackfuse will no longer Overcharge more than one cluster of Crawler Mines per wave on Heroic difficulty.
- Paragons of the Klaxxi
- Xaril the Poisoned Mind should no longer be incorrectly receiving credit in the combat log for spells cast by players that were under the effects of Canned Heat.
- Skeer the Bloodseeker's Bloodletting ability should now correctly spawn blood creatures even if the player has an immunity effect on them.
- Hisek the Swarmkeeper's Sonic Resonance should no longer damage players that were also the target of his Aim ability.
- Hisek the Swarmkeeper should no longer Fire a beam at the target if he gets encased in Amber while casting Aim.
- Ka'roz the Locust should now always jump back down from the platform after using Hurl Amber.
- Ka'roz the Locust should no longer damage players in his path while dashing towards a ledge to Hurl Amber.
- Kaz'tik the Manipulator's Hungry Kunchongs should no longer be able to gain Thick Shell while using Devour on a Mesmerized player.
- Players in a damage-dealing specialization that have already interacted with Rik'kal the Dissector should now be able to interact with Skeer the Bloodseeker.
- Players with the Strong Legs buff should no longer be getting knocked off the platform early.
- Players that acquire "the Prime" title during the fight and successfully complete the encounter now have a buff that allows them to retain the title for 60 minutes.
- Resolved certain situations that could cause players to retain the Paragons' abilities after resetting the encounter.
- Resolved an issue where the last surviving raid member using a threat drop may cause the encounter to not reset correctly.
- Fixed an issue where more than one player was able to obtain the Power of the Paragons buff from the same Paragon.
- Garrosh Hellscream
- Players who are dead will now continue to emanate the full effects of Malice for the remainder of its duration.
- Resolved an issue with creature pathing during the Realm of Y'Shaarj phase in the Temple of the Jade Serpent.
- Garrosh Hellscream now deals less damage on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Kor'kron Warbringers now have less health on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Farseer Wolf Riders now have less health and their Ancestral Chain Heal heals for 5% of health (down from 10%) on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Empowered Touch of Y'Shaarj now increases the health of mind controlled players by 50% (down from a 100% increase) on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Minion of Y'Shaarj's Empowering Corruption is now less effective on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Garrosh Hellscream, Kor'kron Warbringers, and Farseer Wolf Riders' health has been reduced by 5% on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Embodied Despair's health in the Realm of Y'Shaarj has been reduced on Raid Finder difficulty.

- Kor'kron Reapers now deal less damage on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Minion of Y'Shaarj's Empowering Corruption now heals for 15% of health (down from 30%) and increases damage dealt by 20% (down from 50%) on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Harbinger of Y'Shaarj's Y'Shaarj Touched now heals for 2% of health per second (down from 5%) and increases damage dealt by 20% (down from 50%) on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Hellscream's Warsong now grants a 75% increase to Physical damage dealt and health (down from 125%) on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Touch of Y'Shaarj now has a 4-second cast time for players (up from 3 seconds) on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Reduced the health of Minions of Y'shaarj on Raid Finder difficulty.
- Garrosh Hellscream should now use his abilities more predictably when starting Stage Three: MY WORLD.
- Garrosh Hellscream should no longer use Malice against players who have an Iron Star fixated on them on Heroic difficulty.
- Garrosh Hellscream now drops two Kor'kron Juggernauts on 25-player Heroic difficulty. (Requires realm restarts to take effect.)
- Garrosh Hellscream should no longer be using Desecrate against players that are on a balcony.
- Farseer Wolf Riders should no longer continuously attempt to cast Ancestral Chain Heal if they're hit by an Iron Star before entering combat.
- Kor'kron Iron Stars now properly deal damage to Kor’kron Warbringers and Farseer Wolf Riders on 25-player Heroic difficulty, and can no longer unintentionally kill players that were not struck directly.
- Garrosh no longer has a chance to critically hit when under the effects of Leader of the Pack or other similar buffs from players that have been mind controlled by Touch of Y'Shaarj.
- Garrosh Hellscream should now properly drop three Tier-16 armor tokens in 25-player mode.
- Faith, Hope, and Courage effects no longer stack with each other while in the Realm of Y'Shaarj.
- Removing the Touch of Y'Shaarj or Empowered Touch of Y'Shaarj debuff now also removes Weakened Blows, Mortal Wounds, and Master Poisoner effects from the player.
- Embodied Despair can no longer be stunned.
- Farseer Wolf Rider can no longer be hit multiple times by the same Iron Star.
- Kor'kron Warbringer can no longer deal critical strikes to players.
- The Y’Shaarj Touched buff can no longer be spellstolen.
- Fixed an issue where the Kor'kron Iron Star did not damage targets that were under a silence effect.
- Throne of Thunder
- Waterspouts in Tortos' Lair should allow players to travel back to the Council of Elders area once more.
- Fixed an issue where Ice Comets had less health than intended.
- Mogu'shan Vaults
- Resolved an issue that prevented players from completing the Straight Six achievement.
- Ulduar
- Fixed an issue with the Yogg-Saron encounter, where players were unable to proceed to phase 2 of the fight by damaging Sara.
- Sunwell Plateau
- Resolved an issue for players soloing the encounter that could cause Sathrovarr the Corruptor to not award any loot.
- Dungeons
- Shado-Pan Monastery: Defeating Gu Cloudstrike immediately after Azure Serpent has been killed should no longer prevent players from continuing through the Shado-Pan Monastery.
Battlegrounds and Arenas
- Arenas
- For Arena matches that lasts for 20 minutes, the team with the most players left standing will now be awarded a victory. If both teams have an equal number of players alive, the match will still end in a draw.
- Players who pick up a Shadow Sight orb will be unable to stealth for the duration of the effect.
- The Crowd Chose You has been removed and replaced with a debuff called Dampening.
- For Arena matches that last more than 10 minutes, all players in the Arena will begin to receive Dampening.
- Dampening is a stacking debuff applied to all players in the Arena every 10 seconds.
- Each stack of Dampening reduces all healing and damage absorption by 1%.
- If neither team has won after 20 minutes, the Arena match will end in a draw.
- Necrotic Strike's healing absorption is not affected by Dampening.
- Resolved an issue that caused the Dampening debuff icon to appear early, before the debuff is active.
- Armsmaster Holinka and Roo Desvin have returned from their vacations and will offer to sell Season 14 gear for honor points to players who have obtained the Grievous Conquest achievement.
- Silvershard Mines: The eastern mine cart now doesn't spawn in until shortly after the gates open.
- Grievous Gladiator weapons have a level requirement of 90 once more.
- PvP on-use trinket effects should no longer incorrectly scale down while in a Battleground, Rated Battleground, or Arena.
- Players that leave a Rated Battleground prematurely will be unable to queue for a new one until the previous Rated Battleground match has completed. Please see this forum thread for more information on the change.
Grievous Conquest achievement vendors (the ones that allow Conquest gear to be purchase with Honor points) have been temporarily removed.Grievous Gladiator weapons have a temporary level requirement of 91.- Players should no longer be unable to cast spells or use items after repeatedly using restricted items while in a Wargame.
- The Conquest vendors have been restored.
- Fixed an issue where a number of players had a higher than intended Conquest cap.
Conquest vendors have been temporarily removed while we investigate an issue with Conquest caps.- The Crowd Chose You should now be correctly applied to players that are under the effects of Cyclone.
- Rogues can no longer use Shadowstep on Antipersonnel Cannons in Strand of the Ancients.
Professions
- Cooking
- Noodle cart chefs will now receive a well-fed buff while serving other players bowls of noodle soup.
- Buffs and debuffs should now be properly applied or removed while players are in a noodle cart.
- Fixed an issue where the new cooking recipes were only obtainable by characters with a cooking skill of exactly 525.
Items
- Protection Paladins are now eligible to receive the following items with via personal loot (Raid Finder and Flexible difficulty) and bonus rolls (all difficulty modes).
- Siege of Orgrimmar: Bubble-Burst Bracers, Corruption-Rotted Gauntlets, Darkfallen Shoulderplates, Demolisher's Reinforced Belt, Legplates of Unthinking Strife, Poisonbinder Girth, and Thranok's Shattering Helm.
- Ordos: Magdalena's Murderous Crown, Partik's Purified Legplates, Remnar's Ruinous Girdle, Rossi's Rosin-Soaked Shoulderplates, and Vanguard's Burly Bracers.
- Trinkets with cleave and multistrike effects no longer require players to be facing the target to successfully deal damage.
- Effects for Legendary cloaks no longer activate while fighting against other players.
- Reduced the activation rate for caster and healer Legendary cloak effects for characters in a tanking specialization by 75%.
- For Death Knights, the Endurance of Niuzao effect from the Qian-Le legendary cloak should now activate before triggering Purgatory.
- Rain Stone, Blizzard Stone, Ashen Stone, and Sunset Stone are no longer able to be used while in a raid instance.
- Book of Ages should no longer remove food buffs on the character when used.
- Capacitive Primal Diamond no longer has a 1-second internal cooldown for the Capacitance effect.
- Cliffbreaker Breastplate should now correctly have a socket bonus for Strength instead of Intelligence.
- Contemplation of Chi-Ji should no longer incorrectly disenchant into Haunting Spirits.
- Evil Eye of Galakras was only reducing the cooldown on 5 abilities for Warriors. The trinket should now also reduce the cooldown of Heroic Leap.
- Gar'tok, Strength of the Faithful should no longer be incorrectly flagged as a caster weapon.
- Nazgrim's Burnished Insignia's should no longer be incorrectly activating from actions that aren't helpful spells.
- Oddly-Shaped Horn is no longer usable while in the Battlegrounds or Rated Battlegrounds.
- Spark of Zandalar should now be awarding the appropriate amount of Strength to players based on the item's level instead of the player's level.
- Spark of Zandalar should now scale down correctly in Battlegrounds, Rated Battlegrounds, and Arenas.
- Ticking Ebon Detonator's should no longer be incorrectly activating from actions that aren't attacks.
- Timeless Curio should no longer create Contemplation of Chi-Ji for Elemental Shamans, Shadow Priests, and Balance Druids.
- Toy Windmill should now only summon 1 Windmill Lance.
- Tuft of Yak Fur is no longer usable while in the Battlegrounds or Rated Battlegrounds.
- Unerring Vision of Lei Shen now has a 40% reduced chance to activate its effect for Warlocks.
- Fixed an issue where many mana regeneration drinks was not regenerating mana.
Bug Fixes
- The Release Spirit prompt should no longer pop up after performing a reloadui after dying and resurrecting.
- Players dying and releasing while inside the Siege of Orgrimmar raid instance should no longer see the loading bar multiple times before arriving at the graveyard.
- Tracked quests, achievements, and tutorials should now be saving correctly after relogging.
- Players in the Silent Sanctuary area in Vale of Eternal Blossoms should no longer be put into an incorrect phase.
- Items that starts a quest with Tina Mudclaw should now be dropping at the appropriate friendship faction levels.
- Fixed an issue where the Healer Proving Grounds had a chance to cause the realm to crash.
