February 23rd by Blizzard Entertainment

Elf and Human. Mother and Father. Darkness and Light. For Arator, division has defined his entire life; embracing these dualities has given it purpose.

Character Profile: Arator "The Redeemer" Windrunner

Arator Windrunner bears the enduring heart of one born to a family defined by sacrifice. A half-elven child born from two of Azeroth’s greatest heroes and yet raised a stranger from them both. Shaped by loss and strengthened by faith, Arator forged ahead determined to realize a future of hope. One far removed from the heartache that defined his earliest days.

The beloved son of ranger-captain Alleria Windrunner and high general Turalyon, Arator entered the world mere months before his parents vanished amid a doomed mission beyond the demonic Dark Portal. Infant Arator was entrusted with his aunt, Vereesa Windrunner, who raised him with tenderness knowing the weight of his heritage and the legacy he carried.

Though Arator never knew their voices, he returned time and again to the Valley of Heroes in Stormwind City where statues of Alleria and Turalyon stood in solemn tribute to their ultimate sacrifice. In those quiet pilgrimages, the solitary child learned to love them despite their ever present and painful absence.

Arator followed the paths of his legendary bloodlines, ultimately choosing the one paved by his father as one of humanity’s first holy paladins. His service within the Order of the Silver Hand earned him the title “The Redeemer,” though the prophecy woven into it remained his alone to discover.

When the Dark Portal suddenly reopened and a chance to track his parents emerged once more, Arator did not hesitate. The paladin pledged his sword to the Sons of Lothar, taking up their cause as his parents had done before him to both honor them and be closer to the truth of their fate.

Years later, as the demonic Burning Legion invaded Azeroth for the final time, Arator proved himself not just to be a seeker of the past but a champion of the present. He met every trial set against him with unwavering resolve, fighting alongside his comrades of the Silver Hand and aiding the Grand Army of the Light in ending the Legion’s all-consuming threat once and for all.

Every hardship, every ordeal led him to the moment he had longed for: reunion. Yet the joy of seeing his parents again, one each family member had spent decades sacrificing for, was delicate. The infant the parents had left behind stood before them a grown man. Edged with the understanding that love can outlast lost time even when a family cannot be rebuilt in a day, they vowed to move forward together. No matter how uncertain the path forward.

In the years that followed, Arator made countless allies and continued to serve the Silver Hand with distinction. Yet the familial bond he sought most remained more complicated than ever. His family, reunited yet strained, remain pulled by duty toward different horizons. Even as fate pulls them toward separate paths, Arator remains his parents’ quiet anchor. And so, his heart endures it once more, ever holding to the hope that one day they will become the family that duty had denied.

“I am greater than the sum of my parts. I am not half anything. I am complete.”
